The BJP government in odisha is proposing two major changes to the metro rail. The revised DPR will have:
- extension from Trisulia to Cuttack, and
- will be at a higher level (over two layered roads) between Jayadev Vihar and Nandan Kanan.
Quote:The upcoming Metro train in Odisha will now extend upto Cuttack as against the earlier decision of connecting upto Trishulia. The Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra informed about the project today.
The Odisha government plans to expand the metro rail project upto Cuttack. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be soon prepared for the metro project. The much awaited metro rail project is scheduled to function from 2027.
A high-level committee has been set up with experts that will conduct surveys for the same. The high level committee is rechecking the DPR to extend upto Cuttack.
Further the road from Jaydev Vihar to Nandankanan will be widened and three-laned. Minister said that the metro will trail on the upper road while the underpass will be for road communication.
