Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet today decided to enact a new law for upgrading the College of Engineering and Technology (CET), Bhubaneswar into a non-affiliating Unitary University.
During the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a proposal for enactment of the Odisha University of Technology and Research Bill, 2021 was approved. Once the Bill gets approval of the State Assembly, the CET will be renamed as the Odisha University of Technology and Research (OUTR), Bhubaneswar.
After upgradation of CET into OUTR, the University will be able to provide facilities and opportunities for graduate and post-graduate education, Ph.D. and research in the field of engineering, science and technology including Information Technology and its application, architecture and management through instruction, training, research, development and extension.
The University will also provide opportunities for improving employability through entrepreneurial training, specialized skilled training and soft skill requirement by industries.
