https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1...d=32945007 let us do a comparison between flight connectivity in January 2018 and five years later January 2023
- Within India in Jan 2018 the connections were: Delhi 10, Bangalore 7, Kolkata 7, Hyderabad 7, Mumbai 4, Chennai 2, Vizag 1, Ranchi 1
- In January 2023 the within India connections are: Delhi 10-11, Bangalore 6, Kolkata 8, Hyderabad 3, Mumbai 6, Chennai 2, Vizag - zero, Ranchi 1, Pune - 2, Ahmedabad -1, Jharsuguda -1, Allahabad -1 , Varanasi -1, Jaipur - 3/7, Raipur 4/7, Rourkela -1, Jeypore-1.
- So while the direct Vizag connectivity that was there in 2018 is no longer there, there is new connectivity to 9 other places: Pune, Ahmedabad, Jharsuguda, Allahabad, Varanasi, Jaipur, Raipur, Rourkela, and Jeypore.
- The frequency to Hyderabad has gone down from 7 to 3. Perhaps the extra connectivity was by people who were connecting to/from Mumbai (which has additional 2 flights), Pune, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur.
- Internationally, In Jan 2018 there was a daily connectivity to KL and thrice weekly connectivity to Bangkok. There is no international connectivity in Jan 2023, but the government has accepted a bid by Indigo for connectivity to Singapore, Dubai and Bangkok; no start date has been announced.
- In between 2018 and 2023, new connectivity have been tried to places such as Kochi, Guwahati, Goa, Nagpur, Patna, and Surat. Hope some of these will come back.
- The total number of flights/week towards the end of February 2018 is similar to the numbers in February 2023. In between this number had gone down.
