High-Level Clearance Authority of Govt of Odisha, headed by the Chief Minister approves 5 major investment proposals generating employment opportunities to over 26,959 persons in the state

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has been able to attract investments worth Rs 2.96 Lakh Crore in the Financial Year 2020-21 in spite of the COVID pandemic becoming one of the top investment destinations in the country.

In a major success to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Vision 2030 of making Odisha, the “Steel Hub of India”, the High-Level Clearance Authority today issued in-principle approval to 5 major industrial projects to the tune of Rs. 1,46,172 crores in the sector of Metal and Metal downstream. These five industrial projects are further expected to create 26,959 employment opportunities in the state.

The details of the five projects for which in-principle approval was accorded by HLCA are as follows:

Expansion of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited’s integrated steel plant from 5 MMTPA to 15 MMTPA against an investment of INR 55,000 crore to be set up in Rengali, Dist – Sambalpur, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 10,000 persons.

Expansion of Tata Steel Limited’s Crude steel production from 3 MTPA to 8 MTPA, Hot rolled coil from 3 MTPA to 7 MTPA, 2.2 MTPA cold-rolled products and 2 MTPA long products against an investment of INR 47,599 crore to be set up in Kalinga Nagar, Jajpur, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 4,625 persons.

Expansion of Jindal Steel and Power Limited’s 6 MTPA existing Integrated steel plant from the proposed capacity of 18.6 MTPA to 25.2 MTPA against an investment of INR 24,652 crore to be set up in Angul, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 1,000 persons. This investment will take JSPL’s total investment to be Rs. 1,00,670 crore, making it the largest single location steel plant capacity in the world.

Expansion of Rungta Mines Limited’s Integrated Steel Plant from the proposed capacity of 2.85 MMTPA capacity to 7.55 MMTPA by adding capacity of 4.7 MMTPA against an investment of INR 11,001 crore to be set up in Jharbandh, District – Dhenkanal, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 6,200 persons.

Expansion of Rungta Mines Limited’s Steel Plant capacity from 0.53 MMTPA to 3 MMTPA against an investment of INR 7,920 crore to be set up in Karakhendra, Keonjhar, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 5,134 persons.

With this additional steel making facility of 28 MT, Odisha will gear up to achieve 100 MT Steel making capacity by 2030.

... details in SLSWCA, which received In Principle Approval include a 500 KLPD grain-based Ethanol Plant and 8MW Co-gen Power Plant by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd against an investment of INR 870 crore to be set up in Balgopalpur Industrial Estate, Balasore, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 194 persons.

A 500 KLPD grain-based Ethanol Plant (in two phases) by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited against an investment of INR 500 crore to be set up in Umerkote, Dist – Nabarangpur, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 240 persons.

A 100 KLPD grain-based ethanol plant along with Compressed Biogas(CBG) plant of 12 TPD capacity and 2.20 MW Co-gen power plant by Newalt Energy Private Limited against an investment of INR 125 crore to be set up at Nuakheta, Bantala, Dist – Angul, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 650 persons.

A Multi-Modal Logistics Park by International Cargo Terminals and Infrastructure Private Limited against an investment of INR 150 crore to be set up at Kujang, Dist – Jagatsinghpur, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 100 persons.

An 18.75 MW Solar Power Plant by Aditya Birla Renewables Limited against an investment of INR 89.44 crore to be set up at Saintala, Dist – Balangir, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 28 persons.

A 5-star hotel by Atmosphere Core India Private Limited against an investment of INR 184.64 crore to be set up at Bhubaneswar, Khurdha, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 469 persons.

A 5-star hotel by D N Homes Private Limited against an investment of INR 164.80 crore to be set up at Chandaka Industrial Estate, Khurdha, which will generate potential employment opportunities for over 463 persons.

IFGL Refractories Limited got the approval for expansion of its project by adding 14,700 MT Monolithics and Slide Gate Plate facilities at Kalunga Industrial Estate, Lathikata in Sundergarh district at an investment of Rs 66.27 crore.  ... employment opportunities for over 410 people.

... Oddiyaana Eco Resorts Private Limited for setting up Hotel-cum-resort facility along Marine Drive against an investment of INR 128 crore with employment opportunities for 264 people.

Lifeline Multiventures Pvt. Ltd. will set up a Hotel-cum-resort facility – “Konark East Horizon” with an investment of Rs 100 crore and provide employment opportunities for 266 people in Balukhand, Puri district.

Hotel Sukhamay Private Limited has got government’s approval for expansion of its existing hotel “The Crown” against an investment of Rs 88.09 crore. ... employment opportunities for 60 people in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar.

Aspen Lake Suites LLP has proposed to set up a 5-star resort facility against an investment of Rs 69.23 crore and provide jobs to 60 people.

TRL Krosaki Refractories Ltd, the leading Refractories manufacturing company of India, to set up a refractory manufacturing unit for the Metal Ancillary & Downstream industry in Dhamra. The unit is being set up at an investment of Rs 650 crore and is expected to generate employment opportunities for over 700 people in the state.

Prabhukrupa Estates & Properties for setting up a 4 star Hotel & Convention Centre named “Ananya Beach Resort” at an investment of Rs  50.84 crore. This is likely to generate an employment opportunity for over 110 people in the state. The project will be coming up in Sipasurubuli, Puri.

Investment of Rs 624 crore for Varun Beverages Limited, the largest manufacturer of PepsiCo’s products in India, to set up a manufacturing facility for beverages, packaged drinking water,  beverage-based syrups, PET preform along with 3.0 MW captive rooftop solar power plant in Khordha. The project is expected to create over 220 jobs in the state.

Jindal Panther Cement Pvt Ltd to set up their cement manufacturing unit in Angul at an investment of Rs 955 crore generating employment potential of 350.

In Apparel & Technical Textile sector, the Govt. cleared four projects which are expected to generated employment for nearly 8,434 people.

SLSWCA recommended 10 large projects to High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) for consideration, which are expected to create employment opportunities for around 30,000 persons.
