Currently Nandan kanan is spread across an area of 1080 acres.  With 1507 acres of Chudangagarh forest added to it, its size will increase to 2587 acres. Initially lion safari will be moved to the new part, and later tiger safari will also be moved. To increase the tiger numbers a tiger breeding center will be established. A large deer park and a peacock safari will also be established. A new lake will also be made and crocodile breeding will be done. The expansion will be done like safaris in Africa.

Currently Nandan kanan has 4000+ animals in 220+ enclosures. There are 13 mammal species, 15 reptile species, 71 bird species, 20 amphibian species, 85 butterfly species, and 21 spider species.
