Following is an excerpt from https://odishabytes.com/digital-universi...in-odisha/
Quote:Bhubaneshwar: Hailing the contribution of Vedanta in Odisha’s progress, will-known technocrat Dr Damodar Acharya said the digital university proposed by its founder Anil Agarwal will usher in the future path of education not only in the state but in the country at large.
The ex-Director of IIT and AICTE said that the digital university mooted by the Vedanta Group Chairman will enable the students to enroll from every nook and corner of the state and will give them global exposure. It would also be a platform for exchanges with students from abroad.
In short, it will be an international university, part of the student population will be from abroad, he said, adding that the university will not only make the cost of study cheaper, but it will also open the doors for placements in the country and abroad.

Universities and University like institutes |

It may come as a surprise to many, but as of today (25th November 2022) the greater Bhubaneswar area has 27 approved universities and university like institutes; 24 of which are operational and three of them (Odia University, Odisha University of Health Sciences, and Jagadguru Kripalu University) close to being operational. In addition there are four university campuses of multi-campus universities with HQ outside Odisha. The detailed list is at https://www.orissalinks.com/archives/7524 .
In terms of sheer numbers this number is greater than number of universities in Pune and Mumbai, and similar to the number of universities at Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Ahmedabad. Delhi-NCR and Chennai have a lot more.
Prior to 1999 there were only three universities in greater Bhubaneswar: Utkal University, OUAT and Sri Jagannath Sanskrit University. See https://www.orissalinks.com/archives/6243 for the timeline of how this number went from 3 to 27. Some key milestones are: (i) KIIT getting deemed university status in 2004, thus heralding the first private university in Odisha, (ii) Establishment of NISER in 2007, (iii) Establishment of IIT Bhubaneswar in 2008, and (iv) Establishment of AIIMS Bhubaneswar in 2012.

Current Status of Amarda Road (Rasgovindpur) Air strip |

Following is from wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amarda_Road_Airstrip .
Quote:Amarda Road Airstrip, also known as Rasgovindpur Airstrip (IATA: IN 0074) is a former wartime airfield located near Rasgovindpur village in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, India.
History
The Amarda Road airstrip, as it was called in war terminology, spreads across an area of nearly 600 acres. Built in the 1940s at a cost of Rs 3 crore, it was eventually abandoned after the war. It was probably named as Amarda Road Airfield because of the nearby Amarda Road railway station. The airfield was used by No. 136 Squadron RAF,[2] No. 177 Squadron RAF[3] and No. 607 Squadron RAF. The 'Air Fighting Training Unit', formed in February 1943, was also based here.
... Aircraft of the RAF and the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) would regularly fly from this space to China via Chabua (Dibrugarh), Jorhat and Vijaynagar across the infamous hump route over Arunachal and East Tibet.
Amarda Road and other neighbouring airfields - Dhalbhumgarh, Dudhkundi, Salua, Digri, Salbani and Chakulia - formed a web of airfields created by the Allies to stop the impending Japanese advance in the east. During the war, Amarda Road was, to put it simply, a battle hub. After the war was over, most airfields, including this one, fell into disuse. Today, only the Kalaikunda airstrip, which was declared an Air Force Station in 1954, exists.
Present condition
Eight decades after the base was built, the 11,000 feet (3,400 m) concrete runway is still intact, though the buildings that once cluttered the edges are gone.
There are proposals to renovate the airstrip for future operations under UDAN scheme from 2022.
Key point to note is that its runway is 3,400 meters long. In comparison, as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biju_Patnaik_Airport, the Bhubaneswar airport runway length is 2,743 meters.
Following is a video showing its current shape.
